MEMPHIS, Tenn., February 8, 2019 – Black McLaren Jones Ryland & Griffee, P.C. is pleased to announce the addition of attorneys Megan E. Arthur and Amy Worrell Sterling to the firm. Megan Arthur, previously a shareholder at Evans Petree, P.C., brings her family law practice to BMJRG, expanding the firm’s already impressive domestic litigation footprint in the Memphis/Mid-South area. Amy Sterling, previously an attorney at Bass, Berry & Sims, joins the firm to continue to expand the firm’s practice in the areas of securities litigation, insurance defense, and commercial and business litigation. Together they bring roughly 25 years’ experience to the firm.

Megan Arthur concentrates the majority of her practice in the area of family law, including divorce, child custody, parentage, paternity, child support, alimony, modifications, and prenuptial agreements. She also has extensive experience in the areas of insurance defense, medical malpractice, and other complex civil litigation. A native of Memphis, she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Southern Methodist University in 2000 and received her Juris Doctorate degree in 2006 from the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law. She is admitted to practice law in all Tennessee state courts as well as to the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Tennessee. Ms. Arthur is an active member of the local legal community, having most recently completed a three-year term on the board of directors for the Memphis Bar Association, following her serving as vice president and president of the Association’s Family Law Section. Ms. Arthur is a former Barrister Member of the Leo Bearman, Sr. American Inn of Court and is a Fellow Member of the Memphis Bar Foundation. For six consecutive years, from 2013-2018, she has been nominated and selected as a Rising Star in Family Law in the Mid-South by “SuperLawyers”.
Amy Sterling’s legal expertise involves federal and state business litigation with a focus on representation of brokerage firms, financial institutions, and registered representatives in securities litigation, arbitration, and regulatory matters. A significant amount of her practice has been devoted to defending customer complaints and FINRA arbitration claims related to sales practices, product failure disputes, fraud, and failure to supervise allegations. Hailing from Nashville, Tennessee, she received her Bachelor of Business Administration with honors from Belmont University in 1999 and earned her Juris Doctorate degree, also with honors, from the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law in 2006. After graduating from law school, Ms. Sterling serviced as the judicial law clerk for the Honorable Diane K. Vescovo, Magistrate Judge for the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Tennessee. She is admitted to practice law in all Tennessee state courts as well as to the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Tennessee. Ms. Sterling is a member of the Memphis Bar Association and previously served as a board member of the Young Lawyers Division of the Association. She is also a member of Southeastern Women in Financial Services (SWIFS) and has served as a board member of the University of Memphis Law Alumni board of directors.
